Stunning hill country elopement styled shoot at Pedernales Falls State Park

As a photographer, a skill that you MUST have is flexibility and the ability to deal with curveballs. That’s exactly what was unintentionally taught during this particular Pedernales Falls State Park elopement styled shoot at the Southern Love Workshop.

We had originally planned for this shoot to take place at Enchanted Rock but because of the weather, the team had to get creative and pivot last minute. During the presentations, Erika and Nicole snuck away from the workshop to scout some areas nearby and they found Pedernales Falls State Park, which ended up being the perfect location for this shoot.

A simple and beautiful elopement shoot

This elopement styled shoot was unique because, unlike the other two shoots, it was purely an elopement shoot, which meant there weren’t as many details to photograph. Everyone hiked down to the water, took photos of the couple in different poses, and that was basically it. There was no first look, ceremony shots, or table setup, which actually allowed everyone to simply focus on the couple.

Erika and Nicole were able to teach the attendees about composition and horizon lines and really hone in on those skills because there weren’t a lot of other elements to capture. This really helped the attendees learn what to look for when shooting in nature and how to pose the couple.

Chasing the sunset at Pedernales Falls State Park on a misty and gloomy afternoon

This shoot was a real-life teaching opportunity on how to pivot when things don’t go as planned. Finding a new area to shoot at was definitely challenging but after the girls locked in the Pedernales Falls State Park location, everything went very smoothly from there. The couple absolutely killed it. Not only were they stunning, but they were very comfortable in front of the camera, which made it easy for everyone.

The brides’ beautiful Rue De Seine dress and the groom’s Bonobos suit were incredible and the amazing bouquet from Gypsy Floral was the cherry on top of this perfect elopement styled shoot.

It was misty and gloomy outside at Pedernales Falls State Park and everything was completely different from what was originally planned, but all of the elements worked so well together and the images were epic!

Everyone was racing against time a little bit at the end in order to chase the sunset before it got dark, but light-chasing is always a factor when you’re a photographer! This elopement styled shoot ended up being such a fun learning experience for everyone!
